Elegoo Rapid PLA+ Filament - Gray
Rapid PLA+ ELEGOO Filament — Gray, 1 kg spool (1.75 mm ±0.02 mm). A PLA+ blend engineered for fast, reliable and tougher prints: improved flexibility and crack resistance compared with standard PLA makes parts less brittle and better suited for functional prototypes, fixtures and structural elements. The neutral gray hides small surface imperfections and emphasizes form. Filament is machine-wound, hand-checked, vacuum-sealed with desiccant and supplied on a recyclable cardboard spool for immediate, low-maintenance printing.
Rapid PLA+ is a PLA-derived filament upgraded with additives to increase toughness and flow stability while remaining easy to print. Key specs: 1.75 mm diameter with ±0.02 mm tolerance; 1 kg net spool. Recommended starting settings: nozzle 200–230 °C (begin around 205 °C and tune in 5 °C steps), heated bed 50–70 °C. Use a 0.4 mm nozzle for balanced detail and speed; consider 0.6–0.8 mm nozzles for high-throughput coarse prints. Typical practical print speeds: 30–100 mm/s for good surface finish; material can support much higher head speeds on well-tuned machines, but geometry and hardware limit achievable throughput.
Retraction and cooling: moderate part-cooling yields crisper details; reduce fan use on large solid areas to improve interlayer bonding. Tune retraction distance/speed to reduce stringing when printing faster. If stringing or bubbling appears, try slightly lower temperature or dry the filament (40–50 °C for a few hours).
Handling & storage: spool is vacuum-packed with desiccant—open when ready to print. Store unused spool sealed with desiccant in a dry place. Cardboard spool simplifies recycling. PLA-based material is plant-derived and more environmentally friendly than many petrochemical filaments (industrial composting conditions required for full biodegradation).
Applications and finish: neutral gray is ideal for engineering mock-ups, jigs, housings, large models and parts where dimensional repeatability and muted color are preferred. Gray masks minor layer artifacts; for display parts, light sanding and a thin primer/paint produce excellent results. Run a short calibration print whenever you change spool or printer to confirm ideal temperatures and retraction for your setup.
